Switzerland St. Aubin Summer Time (b/w photo)

In spring 1916, all four neighboring countries introduced summer time, but not Switzerland. Only during the Second World War the Federal Council decided to introduce summer time during 1941 and 1942 - with the aim of saving energy. The agricultural village of St. Aubin in the canton of Fribourg, which was taken up on May 20, 1942, refused to comply with the decision of the Federal Council and refused to introduce summer time in the commune. Here a cow team with farmer boy in front of the Mercerie “Au Printemps” in the village centre, where a different time is considered than in the rest of the country.
