The stone was laid by the blacksmith of Clifton Villate, who is also the Parish Church Clerk, and bricklayer living on the Clifton Estate, Mr. Reuben Simkiss, one of the volunteer workers engaged in building the Church. Ten adults and fifty babies were baptized by the Bishop of Southwell, the RT. Rev. F.R Barry and six other Clergy
