A Florina peasant family wearing traditional Slav costumes, Greece, 1947. ' A country struggling with post war chaos, torn asunder by well armed guerilla bands of the left wing and determined Right Wing Extremists. Inside the tortured country of Greece there is misery and bewilderment among towns people and peasants. Few days go by without villages being burned and pillaged. Slav peasant costumes worn on the Florina border are very similar to the national costumes in other Balkan countries. The Macedonian population is made up of a mixture of Greeks, Albanians, Bulgars, Serbs and Turks.
