The Winter War. A military conflict between the Soviet union and Finland. It began with a Soviet invasion on november 1939 when Soviet infantery crossed the border on the Karelian Isthmus. About 9500 Swedish volunteer soldiers participated in the war. Rovaniemi, North Finland. Here War correspondent and journalist Sven Hansson reporting for the daily newspaper Sydsvenska Dagbladet. The Hotel Pohjanhovi in Rovaniemi was turned into a field hospital and he is sitting and writing a report on his typewriter while three nureses are sitting beside him knitting. January 1940
