Humphrey Carpenter (1946-2005) Biographer, broadcaster and children's writer. Best known for his biographies of J. R. R. Tolkien (1977) ( he also edited of The Letters of J. R. R. Tolkien) (1978), W. H. Auden (1981), Ezra Pound (1988), Evelyn Waugh (1989), Benjamin Britten (1992). Antonia Fraser (born 1932) Noted biographer, historian and crime writer. Made her name with Mary Queen of Scots (1969. Her many other books include The Six Wives of Henry VIII (1999), Marie Antoinette (2001), Love and Louis XIV. and her account of her marriage to Harold Pinter Must You Go? (2010). Has won numerous literary awards and was made Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) in the 2011.
