Flying, Mr and Mrs J A Mollison. The most popular partnership in aviation began in 1932 when Jim Mollison, who had made record Australia-England and England-Cape Town flights, married Miss Amy Johnson, who was the first woman to fly solo to Australia. Jim Mollison flew the North Atlantic alone in 1932 and he and his wife made the journey together in 1933. They formed a team in Melbourne Centenary race and led until engine trouble at Karachi forced their retirement from the race. Mrs Mollison broke the Cape record in 1932 and recaptured it in 1936 when she made the double journey. Illustration for Photocard issued by Ardath Tobacco in c.1936.
