Creator: Bone, David Muirhead (1876-1953) View from an elevated position looking down on the remains of St Bride's church, London, after the fire-bombing on 29th December 1940. In the background stands the dome of St Paul's Cathedral. Sir Muirhead Bone was a qualified architect and became the first official war artist under the British War Memorials Committee scheme in the First World War. In the Second World War he was an active member of the War Artists Advisory Committee and became a trustee of Tate Gallery, Imperial War Museums and National Gallery.
